Choosing a Breast Pump
When deciding on which breast pump you should buy there are several things to consider. The first thing to consider is how often you plan on pumping your milk. If you plan on pumping only occasionally, then perhaps a hand held manual or battery operated breast pump is right for you. Hand held manual and hand held battery operated breast pumps are usually the least expensive and most portable pumps.
If, however, you plan on breastpumping more frequently, then an electric breast pump may be a better option. Many electric breast pumps are convenient and also portable. Many working mothers choose electric breast pumps so they can pump during their breaks and lunch periods. Some electric models come in convenient backpacks, and some even have a compartment to keep expressed milk cold. Expressed milk should be refridgerated soon after it is pumped.
Some mothers exclusively pump their milk either by choice, for medical or other reasons. A hospital grade electric pump would be the best choice in this situation. Hospital grade breast pumps are simply the best, and many of the newer models are quite portable. You can even purchase accessories such as vehicle adapters to make them even more convenient. Hospital grade electric breast pumps are also the most expensive, but a wise investment if you plan on having more than one baby.
